To be valid, this measurement of blood pressure must be carried out following strict rules, since blood pressure naturally increases with activities, stress, sport, etc.

The voltage must therefore be recorded:

  • The person lying or sitting,
  • After a rest of at least five minutes,
  • By placing the cuff at heart level,
  • At least twice, spaced several minutes apart,
  • On both arms (one arm sometimes indicates high blood pressure while the other arm has normal blood pressure).

Food home remedies

This is the first point. A Mediterranean type diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in saturated fatty acids is widely recommended. Fruits and vegetables are rich in potassium, a sodium antagonist mineral, a mineral that promotes high blood pressure. Unsaturated fatty acids (fish, olive oil, rapeseed oil, nuts) generate prostaglandins type 1 and 3 which are beneficial for health. Finally, garlic, nuts and cinnamon have shown positive actions against high blood pressure.


Potassium is the sodium antagonist. Potassium deficiency has been shown to promote high blood pressure. It is therefore necessary to take into account the balance between sodium and potassium in the diet of hypertensive patients (see above). It is also possible to use potassium salts during meals rather than sodium salts (in pharmacies) after taking the advice of your doctor.

Magnesium is an essential mineral for general vitality and the performance of many chemical reactions in the body. It also acts on the contraction and heart rate as well as on its oxygenation. It can also be absorbed in the form of magnesium malate or, if the intake of this mineral causes digestive disorders that are too annoying, through the skin in the form of magnesium oil.
